MEASURE & SEAM LAYOUT SERVICE

Many home owners have their own measurements when we arrive. After measuring the job and we "compare" measurements, the explanations start.

Most people will do width x length ÷ 9 = Sq. Yds.
So far so good.

Correct installation measurements will include:
The amount of product handled, NOT the exact yardage of the job.

*** For carpet, add 3" to your net measurements in the length. ***

For instance, a 10' x 10' room, which is 11.11 yards, requires a 10'3" x 12' piece of carpet, which is 13.67 yards. You would be charged for the 13.67 yards because this is the amount of product handled and installed.

I would suggest having a professional carpet installer measure your projects.
Why?

A professional carpet installer will try to find a happy medium by measuring the job with a proper seam diagram. This ensures the customer will not be paying for too much waste. At the same time, the installer will not be putting a "quilt" together with unwanted seams.

NOTE: Usually the less yardage.........the more seams. There are many different ways you can look at this.

In a large home or adjoining rooms, you may or may not want additional seams to save $$$.

On the other hand, you may want extra carpet so you have the same dye lot for unforseen repairs in years to come.

DON'T LET ANYBODY EVER TELL YOU THE SEAMS WILL BE INVISIBLE.

When put together properly and placed out of traffic areas as much as possible, they should not STAND OUT. You'll always know where they are, (if you were present for the installation) but your visitors should not. That's where the "INVISIBLE" part you may have been told can irritate you. Keep in mind the lighter (or whiter) the carpet is, the more the seam has a tendency to show.
